Now that LU has given a chance to players to invest for a permanent Field Manual and Bubble Gum for at least 1 week or 1 month, I've taken the liberty to take the risk and get a chance to experience this so-called "Premium Service."
First days of the service, it was great along with the experience mod of 3x for a week! Probably because that's the release of the new version of WOE SE. So off I went and got a big boost out of it.
Now, here's the worst part, it's Monday and Wednesday is the weekly maintenance schedule fast approaching. Guess what, Prontera just went down. I've filed a ticket and received no reply yet. Others have called but they were just listening to some offline music waiting for a LU Call Center Agent to talk to them. That was around 7pm, an hour before siege would start. Tried logging in till 8:15pm, and successfully rushed to the guild's savepoint to rally and help in the siege.
After the siege, everything went back to normal. People said it was just a once-in-a-while-Prontera-weekly-sickness type of thing. But what happened, 20 minutes before 11pm, Prontera went down. Others said the whole server went down. I wonder why.
Now, I'm not sure if getting the Premium Service again is the best thing to do next time. But if LU can fix the server faster than I can say the longest word in history, probably I'd think about it. Hopefully, it would be up when I wake up tomorrow morning. ~_~ Buggers, thought I would reach the shinning aura again but this just ruined my expectations.

Cheaper Medicines Bill Petition
I was browsing through blogs, since Valhalla Prontera is down along with my characters stuck there, and I noticed an interesting piece from waukster.com. I took a brief look and then re-read the whole thing again and I thought, this is a good petition so that people would not be scared in spending money on medicine to keep healthy.
Yeah, medicine bought in the Philippines are somewhat expensive when it comes to people who are forced to buy them when their doctors give them prescription to cure their ailments. If it's cheaper in other countries, then what factors would cause the expensive price hike when it comes here in the Philippines? Here's what the petition says:
If you think this petition would benefit the entire country, then head on and sign the petition at Petition.

To: Philippine Congress
Online Petition in Support of the Affordable Medicines Act
Cut the costs of medicines. Pass the Affordable Medicines Act Now!
Petition: We urge Congress to immediately pass the Affordable Medicines Act principally authored by Senator Mar Roxas.
Status: Senate and House are working on consolidated version which hopefully can be signed into law on or before Labor Day (Thursday, May 1, 2008).
What the measure seeks to do:
1. Amend the Intellectual Property Code to allow parallel importation of affordable medicines from abroad, and to help generics firms to develop quality and affordable generic medicines.
2. Allow the President, upon recommendation of the Secretary of Health, to impose drug price ceilings in times of calamity, public health emergencies, events that cause artificial and unreasonable price hikes in medicines, the prevalence of illegal price manipulation and whenever prices of essential drugs have risen to unreasonable levels.
3. Strengthen the Bureau of Food and Drug Administration (BFAD) by allowing it to retain its operating income or earnings for modernization, training and equipment upgrades and expansion of human resources.
Differences between the Senate and House Versions:
1. Title – The Senate version is known as the Quality Affordable Medicines Act. The House version is known as the Cheaper Medicines Act.
2. Price Regulation:
o The Senate subscribes to the idea of price regulation on medicines but only through the Office of the President based on the recommendation of the Secretary of Health. This streamlines the process of price regulation and makes it more accountable and transparent to the people.
o The House version seeks to establish a drug price regulatory board composed of different stakeholders that will have the power to set the prices of medicines – higher or lower – based on their analysis of the situation.
3. On the generics-only provision, both chambers have agreed to work on this as a separate bill to fast-track the passage of amendments to the Intellectual Property Code.
Will the passage of this bill bring down the costs of medicines in the country? Senator Mar Roxas said: “All the tools to help the executive bring in quality affordable medicines and promote better competition in the pharmaceutical and retail industry are in this measure. This is why I am reiterating my call for its immediate passage.”
Why not a Drug Price Regulatory Board rather than relying on the Secretary of Health to regulate the price of drugs? “I want accountability to be placed in one person – the Secretary of Health, who will thus forward his recommendations to the President. To place the power of price regulation under a nameless, faceless board would serve only to diffuse accountability and perpetuate finger-pointing at the expense of the public.” (Sen. Mar Roxas, February 8, 2008)
Next steps after the bill is passed? “I call on the DoH to start working on a concrete plan on how to use parallel importation and price regulation to bring down the cost of medicines in the country. Once this plan is completed, it must be presented before stakeholders and the general public at an Affordable Medicines Summit to ensure the cooperation of all in the effective implementation of this landmark law.” (Sen. Mar Roxas, April 11, 2008 interview at the Senate)
Examples of Price Differentials of Drugs in RP and Other Countries:
a. Norvasc, a maintenance drug for hypertension, is priced at P44.75 in the Philippines yet sells for the equivalent of P5.00 in India.
b. Bactrim 400, a drug to treat respiratory tract infection, is priced at P17.75 per tablet in the Philippines yet sells for the equivalent of P1.00 in Pakistan and 69 centavos in India.
c. Ventolin inhaler for asthmatic children is priced at P406 per inhaler in the Philippines yet sells for P231 per inhaler in Bangkok, Thailand.
The passage of the Affordable Medicines Act will enable both the government and the private sector to bring in these quality affordable medicines so that Filipinos will have the same access to cheaper drugs as the Indians, Pakistanis, Thais, and other nationalities. By bringing in these more affordable drugs, competition in the local market will be enhanced thus compelling our own pharmaceutical industry to lower their prices. The same thing happened when the monopoly of the PLDT was broken because of the entry of Globe Telecoms, Bayantel, and Sun Cellular. Or when PAL was forced to improve its services and be on time because of Cebu Pacific and other budget airlines.
As Senator Roxas explained: “My colleagues and I already agree in principle on two items: first, we want to promote the local generics industry and loosen monopolistic and oligapolistic controls in the pharmaceutical industry, and second, that price regulation is an option that ought to be at the government’s disposal.”
If you think this petition would benefit the entire country, then head on and sign the petition at Petition.

Road to 99 Part II
Now it's just two levels to go and the aura will be felt. I just wished it would be that easy. Oh well, probably be best if I'd find a better place to level the dancer faster than in drosera. But come to think of it, I do wonder if leveling in Turtle Island once more would be a great idea, now that I've got wind, fire, and earth arrows in my disposal.
But, I'll still be researching since I've got a lot of supplies of wind of verdure in my storage, with the use of arrow craft, instant 150 arrow of wind. Just like another smaller version of a quiver, but this is probably more lighter. I wonder if leveling in siroma or snowier would be faster than seals. Looking at logistics, the seals map is somewhat farther than the Ice Dungeon map, which is just one warp away, just like in drosera. Oh well, I'd level the dancer or my GF would continue leveling it so that the dancer will become a true lady with that bright blue light around her feet! I can feel it, aja aja! Got to go to sleep, later...

Road to 99™
Well, this is for my first post on my new start in Valhalla. Even though I've been there and done that (having characters achieve 99 and then transcending them part), it's still hard work and dedication for someone to do this. Time consuming may be the better term, but in this case, efficiency is more appropriate.
Before I blabber on my take of how to level a range character (bard/dancer, not sure if applicable to the hunter class) to 99 in less than 2 months, I'd have to remind you that with my expanding knowledge of the game, as well as new features added by its developer, I've somewhat have discovered a faster way to level a bard/dancer character.
Yes, a faster way for those who have access to two computers at their disposal and with that a fast DSL or better internet connection. I'm not saying that this is what you should do. If money or resources are limited, why not find a friend with a similar objective and do it together. So what's the secret? Get married, adopt a novice, leech that novice and turn it into a full-time FS support priest or priestess, and then head to your characters' leveling spot and take your kid with you where ever you go! I'll post on how it works later.
So here I am, leveling my GF's dancer from level 1 up to level 96 turning 97 in less than 1 month. At first, it's archer days was great since it was boosted by my priest, Ryou. From metalling to greatest general and then to the enchanted soils (mi gao) in louyang. At job level 41 (just needed lvl 1 Arrow Shower for the dancer job change) the archer became a dancer (after a few dance exams with lots of mistakes).
From there, the dancer leveled at geographers in einbroch field till level 85. Good thing the 2x EXP MOD Flower Bonanza was there for at least a month! So off the dancer went with her adopted priestess to the drosera map and they're still leveling there till 97. Decent loot drops as well as EXP per monster, could save you the hassle of the transcending fee and regaining all the money from the wedding fee.
As of now, I've done my homework, researched on the next leveling spot and my best bet would be Seals or Sea Otters at Comodo. If not, I'd be taking on Drosera till the dancer reaches 99. Talk about a long time commitment to the plant. /heh
Will keep this post updated! Rok On!

Cards That Can Help You Get Rich
You got a stable character main character to level up and gather loots so that you can earn zenny. You also have an OC/DC merchant for maximizing profits and vending your goods. But have you wondered how you can maximize your profits? Killing more monsters and adding additional time to your gametime may be one way but how about investing in some cards that can help aid you get those goodies from your hunts.
My first card is the Myst Case Card.

Gift boxes contain the most useful and sometimes the most expensive items. Great way to get those dyestuffs without going through the hassle in Morroc Dye Maker and making counter agents and mixtures in Geffen. One good card that can be acquired is the Santa Poring Card, another good and rare card against shadow monsters.
Here's a LIST of what you can get from a giftbox.
Next is the Mimic Card.

Another great source of items. See HERE for a list of items that can be obtained from the Old Blue Box
How about the Cramp card?

I tried and tested this and I guess this is good for a character which can handle big amounts of mob from time to time. The more the monsters, the more chances zenny will be rolling into your account. Try it, it works wonders.
I guess this is enough for now, I'm still researching about other cards that can give more potential in helping get you rich in no time. Oh before I forget, I'll be doing a future in-depth analysis on the merchant combo card set which also helps in making you rich through Old Violet Boxes.

Add the chance of gaining 'Gift Box' item each time a monster is killed.

Merchant Combo Set
Now my first combo set analysis for today is the Merchant Combo Set. A personal favorite because of its attributes and advantages for being part of the merchant class. Before I start analyzing, let's look at the cards that are needed for the combo.

Now, let's take a look at each card individually.
Baby Leopard Card
Analysis: The additional Luck is a good boost for Blacksmith forgers and for critical Battlesmiths. And for the armors being indestructible, a good addition against MVPs that do great damage by breaking armors of MVP hunters.
Hylozoist Card
Analysis: Chance of changing a monster to another monster? That would be risky yet very rewarding. No need to go into far dungeons to attack a bapho jr. But it would be a hilarious sight to see a cute fuzzy lunatic transform into a Abysmal Knight along with its Khalitzburg mob.
Myst Case Card
Analysis: My favorite card, mostly used while leveling up. Gift boxes contain most expensive items that can be sold through vending. Or you can use those items at your disposal without any costs.
Raggler Card
Analysis: Another footgear card that I use for any character due to it's added stat to Strength and Vitality. If you can hit hard, you also need some HP to stay alive while duking it out against a strong opponent.
Now, if all cards are worn by the merchant class at the same time, here's the added attribute:
Analysis: Mammonite power! Now with additional 20% damage, that's one good way to put zenny to good use. An additional 10 Luck is another benefit for forgers and battlesmiths alike. Aside from the Gift Box from the Myst Case card, you'll be getting a chance to obtain an Old Purple Box! Talk about doubling your income if your lucky. I guess for the last attribute, reflecting single target magic is somewhat for PVP and WOE. There's too little monsters that cast single target magic on the player.
I guess that's all for my analysis on the merchant combo set. For Valhalla, the merchant combo set can be bought at the hypermart, but if you've got some cards in the set and still need one or two cards to complete it, I think the hypermart card NPC has those cards as well. This is one combo set that I personally like, the other is the swordsman set.

Now, let's take a look at each card individually.
Baby Leopard Card
LUK +3.
If worn by Merchant Class characters, their armors cannot be damaged.

Hylozoist Card
Add the chance of transmogrifying a monster while fighting.

STR + 1, VIT + 1

Now, if all cards are worn by the merchant class at the same time, here's the added attribute:
Restore 2 SP every time when attacking.
Inflict 20% more damage with Mammonite.
LUK + 10
Add a chance of gaining "Old Purple Box" each time a monster is killed.
Reflect single target Magic back at the caster
Analysis: Mammonite power! Now with additional 20% damage, that's one good way to put zenny to good use. An additional 10 Luck is another benefit for forgers and battlesmiths alike.
